Following Circular No. Acad-05/2017 issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on January 31, 2017, ISM has implemented revisions to the assessment framework for students in Classes IX and X, thereby discontinuing the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) scheme effective from the onset of the academic year 2017.
The Board will administer Class X Examinations, each subject carrying 80 marks and encompassing the entire syllabus of Class X. Both marks and grades will be awarded per subject, employing a 9-point grading system akin to that utilized for Class XII. Internal Assessment, accounting for 20 marks, will be based on specific criteria: periodic written test would be considered for final marks, notebook submission, and subject enrichment activities, varying according to subject specifications outlined by the CBSE curriculum. Co-scholastic activities, aimed at holistic student development, encompass Work Education, Art Education, and Health & Physical Education, graded on a 5-point scale (A to E) without descriptive indicators, and no grade upscaling will be implemented.
For the sake of consistency, ISM will adopt the assessment model outlined above for Class X, extending it to Class IX by the guidelines set forth by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
Students enrolled in Class XI and XII have the option to pursue one of three streams: Science, Commerce, or Humanities, each encompassing five subjects. In the Science Course, English, Physics, and Chemistry are mandatory subjects, with Mathematics or Biology as the fourth subject and Computer Science, Engineering Graphics, or Physical Education as the fifth. Alternatively, students may select Biology as the fourth subject, with Mathematics, Psychology, or Physical Education as the fifth. The Commerce Course includes English, Accountancy, Business Studies, and Economics as compulsory subjects, with a choice between Mathematics, Informatics Practices, Entrepreneurship, Physical Education, for the fifth subject. Similarly, the Humanities Course mandates English, Psychology, and Sociology, with additional options including Economics, Physical Education, Entrepreneurship, and Fine Arts (Sculpture & Painting). Both theoretical and practical exams must be completed separately.
