History

On August 15, 1975, Indian School Muscat (ISM) embarked on its journey, shaping itself into a hallmark of excellence in the Sultanate of Oman. Founded with a modest beginning of 135 students and 7 teachers, ISM’s trajectory was steered by the visionary leadership of His Excellency Nirmaljit Singh and Shri Kanaksi Gokaldas Khimji.

The benevolence of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al Said and His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq elevated ISM’s stature, nurturing over 9000 students under India’s CBSE system. Noteworthy principals, including Ms Zelia D’souza, Mr Leo Lobo, Mr Y.P. Bharadwaj, Mr M.M. Joshi, Mr Ainsley L. Edgar, Mr Achuthan Madhav, Mr Srinivas K. Naidu, and Dr Rajeev Kumar Chauhan, contributed significantly to ISM’s sustainable growth.

Beyond academics, ISM fosters a holistic approach, including a Centre for Special Education, yielding alumni who are excelling globally in diverse fields. Embracing digital education since 2005, ISM remains committed to evolving teaching methods to meet modern challenges.
