Co-curricular activities, occurring beyond classrooms, complement the curriculum without grading or academic credit.
When students acquire the necessary skills outside of a planned curriculum, learning occurs in an enjoyable way. The following clubs will be open to all the students of Class 4 from the new academic session.
All of the students will participate in all these clubs, where committed teachers will share their knowledge. The students will showcase what they have learned from prior club sessions once a month.
There are fifteen clubs with their sessions from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the first Saturday of every month. The clubs are:
GAVEL CLUBS
Good and clear communication is one of the key essentials of great leaders. Gavel Clubs, a part of the TOASTMASTERS INTERNATIONAL, aims in training youngsters in the age group of 10 and 18 in the art of communication and develops good leadership skills. The Gavel sessions are structured in ways which help the students overcome their stage fears, develop confidence in facing audience, listen attentively and offer constructive evaluation. All these skills put together help the students become confident leaders and orators.
The 14 Gavel Clubs of ISM have been training the students for the past 6 years in effective communication and leadership skills. They are organised on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

LITERARY CLUB
Aims at refining the literary skills of the students and to instill in them a confidence to speak, write and think creatively.
PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB
Photography is an exquisite hobby which is quite popular among the students. The ISM Photography Club is a team of students and teachers who focus to imagine, capture and freeze remarkable moments. It aims to imbibe photographic skills, provide wings to students’ thoughts and emotions and empower them to become the future film makers.
QUIZ CLUB
Provides a structured format for students to demonstrate their knowledge, help to build confidence and encourage students to take an active role in their learning. Quizzes can also be a useful tool for assessing student progress and identifying areas where additional support may be needed.
STEM
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education is vital for the future success of students. Integrated STEM education is one way to make learning more connected and relevant for students. Keeping this in mind, Indian School Muscat launched STEM education in 2020. The objective is to prompt inquisitiveness among the students and to inculcate scientific temperament among them. STEM activities encourage, motivate and equip the students in applications of science and its interface with society and in day to day life.
YCIS
The Young Communitarian of Indian Schools (YCIS) is an initiative by the Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman meant for students to walk that extra mile of serving the community, assisting the needy and preserving the environment. As a part of Community Service Month-ZAKAT, Young Communitarians of Indian School Muscat engaged in charitable activities. They collected various food items and other donations as a noble gesture of helping the needy in the Sultanate of Oman during the holy month of Ramadan.
CHIAROSCURO CLUB
Chiaroscuro is the use of contrast between light and dark to emphasize and illuminate important figures in a painting or drawing.
HSE (Health, Safety & Environment)
To instill a sense of responsibility in the students regarding their own and their near one’s safety.
HOSPITALITY CLUB
Seeks to provide a forum for interested students to increase their knowledge and grow their network in the hospitality industry, and enhance their ability to pursue a career in hospitality.
MUSIC CLUB
Focuses on cultivating musical talent amongst the students. Students gain exposure to various musical activities to develop and acquire a rich array of musical skills.
DRAMA CLUB
Aims to provide those with an initial interest in acting an opportunity to learn more about the art.
ROBOTICS & AI
AI and Robotics have the capabilities of changing the world. From identifying treatments for diseases like cancer by harnessing the power of Robotics and AI to supporting everyday tasks will be done with the snap of a finger. With the increased impact of AI and Robotics in the professional landscape, Indian School Muscat has started to absorb courses from these fields in the syllabus to train students from an early age with age-appropriate study material. The course covers all bases of coding with languages like HTML, Java, and Python, which students start learning from grade 5.
GAVEL CLUB
Gavel Club, a part of Toastmasters Club, is meant for the teenagers between the age of 10 and 18. Through Gavel Club, the participants learn to organize and present ideas logically and convincingly; listen carefully to others’ ideas; participate in and lead group discussions or meetings; and offer advice to help others to improve their speaking and leadership skills. Students of Classes VI to XI are part of the Gavel Club.
TOASTMASTERS CLUB
The ISM Toastmasters Club, in association with Toastmasters International was established in 2014 in Indian School Muscat and serves as an invaluable platform for educators to refine their communication and leadership skills. The ISM Toastmasters Club stands as a beacon of excellence, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and empowerment among its members, ultimately enriching the educational landscape of the institution.
